Essential for Medical Candidates:
(i) A recognized medical qualification included in the First or Second Schedule or Part-II of the Third Schedule to the Indian Medical Council Act of 1956. Holders of educational qualifications included in Part-II of the Third Schedule should also fulfill the conditions stipulated in Section 13(3) of the Act.
(ii) A Post Graduate Qualification e.g. MD/MS or a recognized qualification equivalent thereto in the respective subject/allied discipline.

Experience:
(i) As an Associate Professor in the concerned subject for at least 3 years in a permitted/Approved/recognized medical college or institution with 4 research publications in Indexed Journal on Cumulative basis with minimum of 2 Research Publication during the tenure of Associate Professor as 1st Author or as 2nd author.

Experience Required: (i) As an Assistant Professor in the subject for 4 years in a permitted/approved/recognized medical college/institution with 2 Research Publication in Indexed Journals as 1st Author or as 2nd author. Further provided that the 2 research publications must be published during the tenure of the Assistant Professor.

Holders of educational qualifications included in Part-II of the Third Schedule should also fulfill the conditions stipulated in Section 13 (3) of the Act.

Essential for Non-Medical Candidates:
(i) A Post Graduate qualification i.e. Masters Degree in the concerned subject/allied discipline.
(ii) A Doctorate degree of a recognized University in the respective subject/allied discipline.

Experience: (i) For the candidates possessing MD/MS Degree from MCI recognized medical colleges: Three years teaching experience in the subject as Resident/Registrar/Demonstrator/Tutor in a recognised medical college either during the post-graduate course or after obtaining postgraduate degree in the subject.

MBBS, Diploma (2 years) in the concerned subject with one year running experience in the concerned subject in the recognized Teaching institution as Resident. Or M.S/M.D in the concerned subject. Those candidates who have undergone DNB training in an institution which now run MCI recognized postgraduate degree courses in a given subject, their DNB qualifications shall be considered at par with MCI recognized qualification in that subject only.
